15.12.109, EU-Russia co-operation project makes headway
Representatives of the Russian patent office (Rospatent), the European Commission and the European Patent Office (EPO) have agreed on a common approach and next steps in the implementation of an EU-funded project aimed at aligning the Russian and EU patent systems. In a first meeting under the project, held at Rospatent in Moscow, the three organisations decided on concrete activities to be taken over the course of the next year. The EUR 500 000 project, which is being implemented by the EPO, aims to examine current Russian patent legislation and make recommendations on how to align it more closely with European legislation. At the meeting it was decided to organise a seminar on the results of this study, and possibly also publish a booklet on the topic, in particular for the benefit of Russian science, industry and business.
